Make the most of your cosmetic treatment with these simple tips.
Cosmetic injectables are an increasingly popular option for those who would like to banish some of the visible signs of ageing and restore a more youthful-looking appearance. If you have had the treatment before, you will know that the results are highly effective and that the procedure is quick and easy. But did you know that there are certain things you can do to make your injectables last even longer? Read on for our tips on enjoying your results for as long as possible…
1. Limit your time in the sun
One of the best things you can do for your skin generally is to limit direct exposure to the sun. Sun damage can lead to a range of issues, including early signs of ageing. When it comes to maintaining and extending the results of your cosmetic injectable treatment, be sure to stay out of the sun as much as possible. If you do spend time in the sun, remember that it is very important that you protect your skin with sun screen and a hat.
2. Avoid rubbing your face
Once your treatment is complete, try to avoid rubbing or touching your face for at least the first day or two to avoid causing the treatment to spread to areas it was not intended for. You should also avoid using harsh skincare products.
3. Avoid strenuous exercise
It’s always best to avoid strenuous exercise for between 24 and 48 hours after your cosmetic injectable treatment. Activities that raise your heart rate can also temporarily raise your blood pressure and increase swelling at the site of treatment. Exercising too soon can also increase your risk of bruising if you are prone to this side-effect. You should also avoid too much head movement after the procedure, so even some low-impact exercises could cause the injected substance to migrate away of the target area, which will affect your results.
4. Maintain healthy skin
It’s a good idea to establish a good skincare routine so that you maintain or improve the overall condition of your skin. It’s much easier to achieve good, long-lasting results with injectables when your skin is properly taken care of. Choose good-quality skincare products, stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water, and consider taking vitamins that boost skin health.
5. See a skilled practitioner
Cosmetic injectables may be widely available these days, but it is well worth taking the time to find a professional who is highly skilled and experienced with the treatment. A highly qualified and meticulous provider will be able to achieve long-lasting results, as well as a natural-looking aesthetic. In fact, your practitioner should be able to customise your treatment in terms of dosage and product placement after discussing your needs with you in detail.
6. Schedule regular follow-ups
The reality is that although you can, to some extent, make your injectables last longer, the results of the treatment do not last forever. In order to optimise your treatment, it is advisable that you speak to your practitioner about setting up a maintenance plan. They will let you know how often you should ideally come in for follow-up appointments, based on your particular concerns and desired look.
