Frequently Asked Questions
PRF (Platelet Rich Fibrin) injections are a regenerative medical procedure that uses a patient’s own blood to promote healing. PRF is derived from the patient’s blood and contains concentrated platelets, white blood cells, and fibrin. It is injected at the site of injury or damage to stimulate tissue repair and regeneration. PRF is commonly used in dentistry, oral surgery, dermatology, and orthopaedics.
The speed at which PRF (Platelet Rich Fibrin) injections show results can vary depending on several factors, including the specific condition being treated, the severity of the injury or damage, and individual patient factors. In general, PRF injections are considered a gradual healing process rather than providing immediate results.
The regenerative effects of PRF occur over time as the growth factors and other bioactive substances present in PRF stimulate the healing and regeneration of tissues. It may take several weeks to months to see noticeable improvements in the treated area.
It’s important to note that PRF injections are not a quick fix and may require multiple sessions or a series of injections for optimal results. The treatment plan and timeline will be determined by your healthcare professional based on your individual condition and response to the treatment.
Additionally, the efficacy of PRF injections can vary among individuals, and some patients may experience faster or slower healing and results. It’s essential to have realistic expectations and maintain open communication with your healthcare provider to track your progress and make any necessary adjustments to your treatment plan.
Possible side effects of PRF (Platelet Rich Fibrin) injections include local skin redness, swelling, sensitivity, bruising, and flaking (all temporary). There’s also a rare chance of hyperpigmentation, particularly in certain skin types, and scarring. Adhering to sterile procedures and selecting a seasoned professional can help minimise these risks.
